Impulse Control

Short Film

Overview

Digi60 Filmmakers' Festival is a short-film competition where creatives are given a 60 day time limit to write, record, and deliver a completed project that matches the festival's theme. I felt this would be a fun creative challenge, so I assembled a scrappy team consisting of childhood friends to produce a film for the festival.

Challenges & Approach

Briefly put, 60 days is a tight timeframe to complete all stages of film production! I worked alongside Writer Nicki Richards and Co-Director Sarah Tachuk to craft the script, casting was held, and after an extremely tight 1 Day shoot, the final Edit was delivered. The biggest challenge was simply the time restriction, meaning we had to work swiftly and confidently every step of the way.

The result

The final film is a lighthearted, heartwarming story that answers the question "What would happen if your intrusive thoughts took over for a day?". The film won the Best Screenplay award, and completed a short festival run before being purchased for national distribution by CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).
