Wing Tel

Overview
NYC-based mobile phone service provider Wing Tel was interested in producing multiple short-form commercials to advertise their low-cost smartphone plans. Working alongside creative partner Sarah Gonyea, and producer Greg Dybec, I was tasked with creating comedy focused, witty ads for online distribution.
Challenges & Approach
For these commercials, I made the creative decision that each concept would consist of a single shot, with minimal camera movement. A play on the classic "comedy lives in the wide shot" mentality, the ads rely heavily on intentional framing, actor blocking, and set design. This could be seen as a risky approach, as there would be no additional angles or shots to hide mistakes in the edit. I felt strongly about this shooting style, and was confident our team could tackle the creative challenge.
The result
The final result is a collection of dynamic concepts with slapstick performances, and satisfying punchlines. The "one shot" approach allowed for the action to take place within the frame, without distractions. The ads prompted high online engagement and significantly boosted Wing's client acquisition. This lead to a 5 year partnership creating Video, Photo, and Voice Acting services for Wing Tel, and subsidiary brand HomeFi.
