Wild
Short Film
Overview
The concept for "Wild" was birthed from a desire to create a striking short film. I wanted to explore motion, contrast, and unique visual effects. On a spontaneous warm Summer evening, I team up with creative partner and motorcyclist Riley Taplin to shoot the project.
Challenges & Approach
Filming with Smoke Grenades is a challenge in itself. Working with very little supply, there was slim margin for error, and with daylight flighting against us, we had to move with haste. The run-and-gun nature of this project forced us to make on-the-fly creative decisions and problem solve in real-time.
The result
The final film not only satisfies my original vision, but it proves that a simple concept executed effectively can captivate audiences. The bold purple and blue smoke surrounding the motorcyclist entirely reshapes the quiet forest environment, resulting in strong visual and story contrast. This impromptu film remains a project I continue to look back on with kind eyes.
